This renovation, complete with additions which tripled the square footage, was completed in 1978 during the construction of the pipeline. The architect went to Alaska in April
to measure the home and take pictures, came back to Richmond and designed the structure. All contractors in Fairbanks at the time were working on the pipeline. The architect took his family
and two craftsmen (complete with all of the required tools) to Fairbanks in July. The home was completed in October before the first heavy snowfall.
